OUR FRIEND JOHN LOBB SUPPLIED THE INFORMATION BELOW regarding records above

I started yesterday to look into Thomasine Ethelind May. I am reasonably sure she married Joseph William Langford in Devonport 1901,
after the Census, but I haven’t got a Marriage certificate or other record to give fathers’ names – there is only one with her name,
but several WJL or JWL. This I think is your William Joseph Langford in 1901, the \\ distinguish different family groups in the
census (sorry if you are familiar with this):

Thomasine Ethelind was from Polgooth, daughter of Edward Body May and Elizabeth Ann Sibly. She, with children, travelled back and
forth to the UK, using sometimes Ethelind as a forename or just the initial E, I can be reasonably sure it was her, because in later
travel she gives her sister’s precise address in Ipswich. I don’t know when they first went out to SA. The children’s names I think
I have located are Sidney, born about 1902, Ethelind, about 1904, Lillian, about 1911, and Philip about 1913 (in England)
I am afraid it is all presently without a solid foundation, but Death Notices might help if you can get them, I think from NAIRS
that WJ died in 1922, and Ethelind in 1950. There is also a reference to an Illiquid divorce case in 1936 between Ethelind May
(born Langford) and Ernest James Brady, but I have no further information on any of this.
I hope the above makes sense and is helpful to you
Regards

ARRIVAL OF THE KING WILLIAM Natal Witness February 1 1850

Captain Benjamin Avery of the King William couldn't have foreseen the nightmare voyage ahead when his ship sailed for Natal on 20
October 1849. Overcrowded with more than 270 passengers and crew, scarlet fever broke out and claimed the lives of sixteen children
during the 91-day journey. Adding to the death toll, two seamen were lost overboard.

The vessel was the first to bring a separate group of Wesleyan Methodists, under the auspices of W J Irons, among them being the
GARLAND and STARR families. Spare a thought for Anne IRELAND, whose husband Robert died on board, leaving her with 7 children -
plus an infant named Ocean Robert, born at sea. The Wesleyans were to settle at Verulam.

Other now famous names on the passenger list included BLAMEY, CULLINGWORTH and ROBINSON. Richard GODDEN was later one of the
contractors who supplied rock from the Bluff quarry for the Natal harbour works begun by John Milne.

BIRTH - Mrs JF Kahts, of a son, D'Urban, Jan 24th, 1850.

ARRIVED, Jan 23, the King William,, 463 tons, Benjamin Avery, master, with emigrants.
